Real Estate Trends - Advertising

The annual report of the National Association of Realtors homebuyers and sellers profiling reveals some interesting information about how and where to spend money when marketing homes. The study findings should be of interest to the real estate agents and clients alike.

For example, the study discovered that the properties of the local television advertising may not be the best use of advertising dollars when marketing properties. Although about 25 percent of homebuyers surveyed do not often use the television a source of leads for less than one percent claimed that it first learned about the home ultimately purchased to see on TV.

The NAR survey has been going on for about ten years ago and has proved useful over the past decade, the ability to predict trends. For example, it is not surprising that one of the most effective tool for marketing homes on the Internet, and this trend is expected to continue to grow stronger as the years passed. Interestingly, although the net number of consumers, they've also continued to use drugs to help them in the buying process. Some 77 percent said that homebuyers use the net in search of a new home, but 90 percent also used the help of a realtor.

The survey also showed that the traditional methods of marketing such as newspaper ads, open houses, and a simple sign in the yard is still an effective means of reaching potential customers. It seems like people still enjoy driving around and looking for signs of the neighborhoods that interest them. In fact, about 15 percent said that customers sign a substantial source of information on home yard purchased.

Open house did not fare quite as well. Although nearly half of the homebuyers interviewed useful sources of information open house, less than one percent claimed that bought the home because of an open house.

In fact, among homebuyers surveyed, the number one source of information on home buying, eventually even the realtor. This is good news for the multiple listing service, because it means that the information is still heavily used as agents to find potential homes for their clients. However, the savvy stock brokers, make sure their homes are featured on the internet to give them an even wider exposure.
