Always a hot issue in captivity in zoos but euthanasia and the proper management of the species long recognized as an absolutely essential part should be. There kill an animal if it is done quickly and with forethought and kindness is not anything wrong. When animals are euthanized for the right reasons, it is morally right and justified. Often uninformed "heartless" and "do not care" when the opposite is true right level to be charges. Good with a population managed zoos can see the big picture.
In the wild, animals every day, sad, painful and stressful conditions die. It pretty much kill or killed the world you will face the two options facing starvation or disease is not.
Good modern zoo thrown in the balance of nature is cruel. Animals survive. They live longer. The same number of men and women live. Man management is properly controlled. In fact today as the man is well-managed wild. Deer and others, elephants, culling a way to ensure that the hungry do not need a large population has become.
Euthanasia is only part of the species in zoos and in the hands contraceptive management, breeding and bachelor groups with separation goes hand.
People are more animals to prevent disease outbreaks culling of large numbers of sheep seem willing to accept. Thousands of unwanted dogs and cats are killed around the world and has raised hardly a murmur. In zoos it is different. Here species are easily broken samples. Nameless faceless numbers, but no animal life can relate to people. Zoos often create publicity photo with the situation and called themselves "baby" competitions is nothing wrong in it. Species role for part of a zoo to raise awareness and this is best done through the samples. However samples are part of species and species that are being managed and not individuals.
Modern zoo of different species genetically healthy viable population is about long-term management. It is important to recognize that it is long. Any real feel of the wild animals are returning any time soon. Well it is limited in some cases but for the most part to the problems facing wild animals to be going away anytime soon is not displayed. With proper management of captive species as far as a hundred years from now that animals can be returned.
